Welcome to Hair Studio 408!

Welcome to our blog. We hope you enjoy hair as much as we do. We are a full service salon and we will write about more than just hair, but today let's start with hair color.

What is it that every girl wants to know about hair and hair color? Girls spend hours and hours browsing through numerous sites like Pinterest looking at hair colors and hair styles. Hoping that when they go to the hair stylist, they can walk away with that same look. There are many things to consider when bringing a picture to your hair stylist.

  1. Your stylist has people in their chair every day that come in with about 10 different pictures that are really 10 different looks... What is it that you really want? Buttery blond, dark with caramel, reddish strawberry blonde? Balayage or high lights?

  2. Don't come in with to many different pictures of styles or colors. Bring 1 or 2 pictures that you like and/or even a picture of what you don't like in a hair style or hair color. If a picture is worth a thousand words, to many is to long of a book. We can't read that novel in 2 hours. Let's work on what you have and where you want to go with your hair.

  3. Ask your hair stylists what looks work well with your hair type and texture.

  4. Keep in mind that it may take more than one process or appointment to get you where you want to be with your hair color. It's not a realistic expectation to go from that box dyed brown hair to a beautiful light blond Balayage in one visit. You don't want to push your hair beyond it's capability. Hair will only lighten so far in one visit. Especially, when trying to remove box dyed color. Protein treatments and conditioning treatments are recommended between color processes. This will help maintain the integrity of the hair and prolong hair color.

  5. Consider what this look is going to cost? You may be paying a lot up front, but for something like a Balayage, you can go longer before you need a touch up.

  6. In the end the most important thing is communication. A good hair stylist will tell you this may take many appointments and time. Your hair stylist may tell you,”this look won't work with your fine hair.” A good stylist will let you know the cost up front, so there are no surprises in the process.

Cheers to you for reading our blog and we look forward to seeing you in our chair.
